Hi, I don't understand how to find people who linked to Borders. I have an Ahrefs account but I don't know how to use Ahrefs to find those people. Thanks for clarifying.

Hello Brian, after you find a similar business that is gone and then contact those who had links, how you know what content they were linked to since the pages most likely show a 404error? In another words, how do you know your page provides a similar solution that is no longer available on that other site.

Brian, really learning a lot from your great videos thanks! Note: Moving Man Method for finding broken links and getting them to point to your site: find sites via shut down google news and enter your keyword + shut down/out of business/rebranded. 'Keyword + service no longer available' or 'this resource is no longer updated'. Use Majestic SEO, open site explorer of A-Hrefs.

There is so much garbage out there in this industry and Brian is consistently a shinning light in this space. Always great resource, not pushing you to buy his products. Class act sir.

Hi Brian, great video, keep up the good work.
I've tried this and I don't seem to find relevant websites (that are no longer available) in my industries (web design and locksmiths)
I've searched for "locksmith out of business", "locksmith no longer available"… and similar, same for web design, then check results of the first 3 to 4 pages in Google. All I could find was a couple of closed business with no backlinks (according to Open site explorer)
How can I apply this strategy? help please 🙂

Thanks Brian! Below is the script if it helps anyone.

    Hey There,
I found your page about WHATEVER today and noticed you had a link to WHATEVER (e.g. Blockbuster).

So as you may have heard Blockbuster shutdown and went out of business.

You might want to remove that link, also, I recently published a resource about the same thing and it might make a nice addition to your page.

Either way, love the article keep up the good work!

Very useful information Brian… I wanted to share with you that I discovered that billboard's spotify link showed up as a 404 error so I sent an email to the editor to tell her about it. I let her know that she could replace it with another link to the Billboard Top 100 Spotify channel that I used to go about following the channel as well as telling her what my profile pic looked like as a Spotify user. I told her about my site and how my articles might be useful to some of their viewers considering my site is about music. I told her if she would get a chance to check it out but otherwise thanked her for her time and let her know that I hoped I could be helpful providing that info to her. Not sure if this helps billboard but realizing that those 404's would show up on every page, I was thinking it might be a critical 404 to fix.

Well done, Brian. I have been making my living online for the past 19 years and the moving man method is a new one. Love it. Went and liked your FB page and I would love to talk to you about something that might promote Backlinko and your other projects, as they are worthy of promotion.

Awesome video Brian, love the tips.

I plan on using this right away as I know there are a lot of blogs and agencies in the SEO space the open up, burn out and then get shut down. Seems like this strategy would work well here.

    Thanks for sharing!
